It has been an incredible time in my life these past two weeks.  The Lord has provided great friends, undeniable affirmation, and a big dose of humility also.  Moving to a City on your own, or anywhere for that matter, forces you to pick from two options:

  1. Put yourself out there and meet people no matter how weird it might feel.
  2. Keep to yourself, hang in your apartment, and feel be lonely.

Although this may seem like an extreme comparison, I know it to be true.  It takes a huge effort to go into a city that you have never been in and try to approach people who you have never met in a social setting you aren’t used to.

The thing is though, you have to own it.

You, however old you are, whatever your insecurities, how ever many ambitions, must own your situation.  No, this is not some self-help motivational post telling you to “live in the moment…man”.  What I’m trying to say here is that even though you may not feel like you are an adult, a professional, a college grad, whatever, you are.

And you need to own it.

Accept that you are where you are for a divine reason.  Accept that you are however old you are.  Accept that you suck as some things and excel at others.

It’s a dangerous game to tell little white lies to people when you first meet them so they like you more…you always end up looking like an idiot.  So please, take some time to examine your strengths and match them with your ambitions - do they align?  What about your view of yourself compared to what you want to be - are you satisfied?

It’s time to own who we are not because individualism and acceptance of your faults make an “all accepting” worldview, but we need to own who we are because nobody else can do it for us.

Culture needs people who know how broken they are, find their strength through the Grace of Jesus, and have an accurately humble but bold view of themselves as world changers.

So let me start:

I’m Chase Moore. I suck at softball, like riding bikes, and I think a few people read my blog.  I want to tell life changing stories though documentary and I’m taking every opportunity to make that happen.  I am a young professional filmmaker, and although I may not feel like it sometimes, I am an heir to the Kingdom of Christ, and I have some serious work to do.
