Welp, might as well just dive straight into this one…

Wake up at 4:30am, take a shower, load a few last minute things into the car and it was time to hit the road at 5:00am. It was a smooth drive with no issues all the way into Washington, DC. Georgetown to be exact.

Amy and I pull up to the house that I am supposed to be moving into, knock on the door, and we are greeted buy a guy in a tank top with rub-on tattoos on both sides of his neck (the kind you get in cracker jack boxes).  He was just a friend apparently and didn’t live there, but the next guy we met had his shirt all the way off and there was some weird but massive tattoo that covered the center of his belly button. His name was Ben.

Ben showed me around the house and where I would be staying, we stopped by his room first however, where I saw a condom (wrapped) laying on his dresser and a 3 foot bong by his couch.

Sweet, now I knew why the house had a skunky smell.

After hanging out downtown all night at a documentary fundraiser and afterparty, I didn’t feel right about the house.  I didn’t feel like the Spirit was telling me no, and I didnt’ feel like the Spirit was telling me yes, I just had a very odd feeling so I called my buddy Don (wisest man I know) and asked him what to do.

“You need to surround yourself with people that are going to help you reach your goals during your time here in DC” he said.  And right then I knew it wasn’t the right place for me.

As soon as I got back, there were 8 guys on the couches getting hammered and smoking weed, and I finally had my answer.  Amy and I took everything out of the house, loaded up the element, and we are now in some sketchy hotel in Arlington for the night.

Summary:

  • 8 hour drive
  • Condoms, bong, stench
  • Incredible documentary, networking, dinner, wine
  • No answer/direction on housing
  • 8 guys wasted/high = definite answer
  • Sketchy hoel

Not a bad first day in our Nations Capitol eh? (And just to be clear, I really do like it here!)
