Photo Dump: A Glance at Sundance
It all started with the transit. Indianapolis —> Denver —> Salt lake. A quick drive from Salt Lake to Park City finally put us at the Sundance Film Festival.
It was a steep learning curve to figure out the city bus system, but after almost missing our second film, we had it down. Wake up, eat breakfast, drive into town, discuss movies and culture at the Windrider forum,...

On the way
Photos, quotes, lists, thoughts, and a write up of my time at Sundance will soon be written. This week hasn’t been very conducive to writing every night so it’s going to be one big entry followed by lots of small ones probably.
Stay classy.
Powerful.

I am blown away by the power of cinema. The pure thought that moving pictures coupled with music, sfx, and dialogue can bring a man to tears is just incredible, and incredible happened tonight.
How To Die In Oregon is a feature-length documentary that follows the life of a woman who is terminally ill and has decided to take her own life using Oregon’s legal...

The "Feel"
(Thanks Tim Kerigan for the picture)
Welp, I underestimated the scale of Sundance…this place is huge. Packed shuttles, crowded sidewalks, and agressive seat-finding quickly turned my relaxed attitude into one of being keenly aware and quick to react to my surroundings.
I was able to observe the overall attitude of festival goers today as I traveled from theater to theater, and I found...

Godspeed
As the sun came over the mountains this morning in Park City and I stood holding my cup of coffee, I felt the peace of the Lord. All of the hype, busy-ness, rush, and gut punching ability that Sundance put into my mind faded away as I was reminded of a promise.
This promise is that the Holy Spirit, God’s helper to man, has gone before me here in Park City, and he has prepared a way for me....

Sundance Film Festival 2011
(Our team picture made it on the front page of the Taylor University webpage. http://www.taylor.edu)
Sunday, I will be heading down to Park City, Utah for the 2011 Sundance Film Festival with 9 other students and 2 professors. I am nervous, excited, ready to get kicked in the gut by films, and ready to engage in dialogue with filmmakers and enthusiasts that lead to Christ.
I will be blogging...

…the amount of vertical feet I put my body through today.
It started at the car with high hopes and lots of energy. Our mission was to ride the Gnome chutes and then head over to the Miner’s chute and hike out along Wolf Creek (the actual creek, not the ski area).
Being the only person on snowshoes, I knew I was going to be slower than the other 3 guys, but I had no idea how much...

– Quoted from Robert K. Johnston - Reel Spirituality (theology and film in dialogue)
Put in context, Johnston talks about how a secular artist (see filmmaker) can, at times, disclose God’s presence ever more sharply and decisively than God has chosen to do through creation itself.
If you are...
Anything by Dirt TV is already extremely high quality, but I am way pumped for this to come out…I can’t stop watching 1:25 on the video…I have no idea how that guy held on to his bike!

Workin' Man
I have been putting in 40 hours a week working construction this christmas break and I wanted to show off what I have been working on. This house is located in national forest and has a superb view (as you will see). From the timber framing to the massive log trusses, this place is rad!
Here is the overall view of the house. To the left is the main part of the house (used to be) and to the...

Not Necessarily Resolutions, But Close
( had plenty of time to think on my drive back from Denver today and God gave me this to look at while I did it.)
I want to improve:
My posture
How I manage my finances
How I deal with stress
I want to go:
Skydiving again
Climbing more
Mountain biking somewhere new
I want to be:
Professional
More honest
Poured into
I need to:
Keep track of my finances
Use what I have...
